Project Details
Recently we retrofitted this 2010's era home from a gas reliant, inefficient, uncomfortable, noisy and humid mess to a super comfortable, healthy, resilient and near-zero energy home with solar and storage. We also updated the kitchen floor plan and finishes along the way with all new flooring, cabinets, appliances, lighting and tile.
The old gas furnace was located in the unconditioned space in the garage along with the gas water heater. We rearranged the old mudroom/laundry which had an inefficient layout to include a new SanCO2 water heater, an @mitsubishihvac heat pump and a @panasonic Inteli-balance ERV. We got rid of the old ducted dryer and replaced it with new ductless heat pump washer and dryer.
We closed off the vents of the crawlspace to create a conditioned crawl, added a new @stegoindustries vapor barrier, insulation and a @santafeproducts dehu. The home had poly behind the sheetrock, so we removed that wherever walls were opened up. We also added a healthy blanket of cellulose insulation in the attic after we air sealed with the @475.supply Aero-fix gun and @prosocoinc sealants.
In addition to this we replaced a number of windows and large doors from old vinyl sliders to new triple pane @pivotwindows lift slide doors and tilt/turn windows.
We also upgraded the electrical panel to a smart @get_span panel, added electric car charging, a 15 kW Franklin battery system and a 9.2 KW solar PV array.
We also got rid of the old gas fireplace and used the space to expand the kitchen and breakfast nook area. We replaced the unhealthy gas cooktop with a new @miele induction unit, wall oven and steam oven.
The clients were AWESOME on this project and I had to sit there and take all of the effusive praise they kept heaping on our team... that and a carrot cake for the team after we were done! Unbelievable ;)
